CEMETERIES

Bradford has four town cemeteries, one Association owned cemetery, one private family cemetery, and a few family burial plots.

They are:

  • Upper Plain Cemetery
    • Town owned
    • Located on U. S. Route 5 approximately 1 mile north of the village
    • Still being used
    • Burials back to the late 1700s
  • West Bradford Cemetery
    • Town owned
    • Located on Hackett Hill Rd. a short distance off South Rd.
    • Seldom used
    • Burials back to early 1800s
  • Wright's Mountain Cemetery
    • Town owned
    • Located on Wright's Mountain Road
    • No recent burials
    • Burials from early 1800s to early 2900s
  • One small town cemetery located off Goshen Rd., which is no longer used. The stones and remains were moved to the Upper Plain Cemetery in the mid 1900s
  • Sawyer Cemetery
    • Owned by the Sawyer Association
    • Located across the road from the Upper Plain cemetery
    • First burials in the late 1930s
  • Stockman Family Cemetery
    • Private cemetery
    • Located on Tarbox Rd.
    • First used in 1970s

     

All burials were transcribed from the burial stones in 1997 and compared with a listing done in 1977. Copies are available to read in the Town Office, Bradford Library, Bradford Historical Society, and the Vermont Historical Society Library.
