Welcome to the Lower Cohase region. Cohase (pronounced co-hâs) is a Native American word referring to a place of ‘wide valleys'. The region, nestled in the beautiful valley of the Connecticut River, encompasses the Vermont towns of Newbury (includes Wells River and Newbury Village) and Bradford and the New Hampshire towns of Haverhill (which includes Woodsville, North Haverhill, and Haverhill Corner) and Piermont. Whether you are fortunate enough to live here or are simply visiting, this area offers a wide range of activities and events for the whole family. For the outdoor enthusiasts this is a great area for bicycling, canoeing, golfing, hiking, and skiing. Our region also boasts a large number of artisans and craftsman producing a wide variety of items such as pottery, paper, and clothing. And, of course, there are quite a few annual town fairs, festivals and community dinners for everyone to enjoy. The Lower Cohase Regional Chamber of Commerce supports the commerce in this beautiful region. We encourage you to browse our website to learn more about what our area has to offer.
